In March 2020 when the pandemic hit, we lost 100% of our business overnight.

BellaRu Catering went from a full-service catering company to a team dedicated to feeding the underserved, senior and homeless communities in Lake County and beyond. We were awarded a number of grants to help our grassroots efforts. We partnered with nonprofit organizations and religious groups to get the word out and setup reliable weekly distribution points throughout Lake County.

Initially, our goal was to feed 1000 families, but by September, we were providing 2700 families a week with fresh meat & produce which were culturally relevant. We hired 20 part-time furloughed food service staff to help with the organization & distribution to every corner of Lake County.

In 2020 we served 31,764 families a total of 897,957 meals.
